How is it that one can exercise on a regular basis – run, walk, stretch, do some yoga, lift weights – and still have sore legs and really tight muscles after a couple of hours of picking up dead leaves and apples in the yard?
I swear, sometimes I wonder why I even bother working out at all.
Or maybe I should just buy a condo and give up being a house owner.
I think age has something to do with that. :)
Heh heh… I almost revised the post before publication by adding a line stating that « anybody who mentioned age as a factor would end up with the dead apples… »
But then again I thought: « What if Michel wants to comment? » ;-)
The sad thing is, I think you’re probably right.
Oh, I was simply thinking of myself and my various aches and pains.
Umm, but did you stretch before and after? (Obvious (and not mean!) answer is, not the same muscles are being used… but be careful: my mom once gave herself tendonitis raking leaves! Mind you, we had LAND, not a yard…)
@vieux bandit: I hate the idea that I have to stretch before raking leaves… but I guess it would help next time!
Those little cherry apples are a killer to pick up, and they are EVERYWHERE!
Raking leaves is exercise! Sport even! Extreme, sometimes! I only had a large maple (and I love raking, especially when it’s nippy out), and it was healthy enough not to produce apples, so I can’t feel your pain…
Seriously: think about the movements involved — what sport has those?
