Le site Making Of, créé par Natalie Portman et Christine Aylward, offre des entrevues avec plusieurs scénaristes qui travaillent à Hollywood. Il n’y a pas des tonnes de femmes dans ce domaine alors j’ai été particulièrement intéressée d’entendre Melissa Rosenberg parler de son travail d’adaptation sur Twilight.

Elle est passée de la télésérie Dexter à l’adaptation de trois tomes de Twilight. Les scénarios ont été écrits en un temps record à cause de la menace de grève des scénaristes américains. Avec un background en danse, Melissa Rosenberg agit comme scénariste depuis 17 ans et a aussi travaillé sur The O.C. et sur le film Step Up.

Le scénariste et blogueur John August (Big Fish, The Nines, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) a aussi bien des choses intéressantes à raconter. J’ai bien aimé sa manière de parler du processus de réécriture:

Generally, it’s easier to rewrite a script than to rewrite a first draft. That’s why I think people tend to have a lot of half-finished scripts. They’ll write 60 pages and then they’ll just go back and rewrite these 60 pages rather than finishing the script. Rewriting is the process of figuring out what you intented vs what you achieved, and whether what you originally intended was really the right place to go. My best advice for rewrites is: have a plan before you get in, because it’s so easy to just go in and start moving the furniture around and not really do the big work that you need to do. Rewrites are not about where you put that comma. They are really about when that scenes happens or whether that character should even be in the draft. So go in with some big plans on how you’re going to fix things before you start mucking around.
