Get them off the streets

I really can’t stand the trucks that drive around the city with big ads on them and I’ve complained about them before. The whole concept is just wrong.

Michael from mtl3p found out about a protest being organized on Monday, August 8th, around one of those (b)ad trucks. I have out of town guests and won’t be able to make it but I should follow the suggestion of this organization and send an official letter to complain.

  1. So true!

And the worst thing is: you always see them when there is (too much) traffic (what’s the point of showing off when nobody is there).

It is only one truck. But fuck. What’s the point?
(I would gladly boycott their products, but they seem always directed to stupid people: wannabe clubs on Crescent/St Laurent, etc.)

  2. Those trucks remind me of when I was a kid in the Laurentians. Our local « Salle des Loisirs » would show movies and every weekend they’d get a car (big green Buick with huge loudspeakers) to drive around the otherwise quiet countryside and announce the showings to everyone. The heavy jouale accent added to the absurdity of it all. I still remember -« Seeeeh sor neveur dans la salle d loiiiiisirs… nous prsent’rons… JAWS… les dents d’la mayr ». Maybe abrasive and tacky « mass media » announcements are somewhat of a tradition for the Montreal area… it goes hand in hand with Cline and Men Without Hats. :P
