If we now find ourselves adrift in an ocean of information, our mental state increasingly resembles the slivered surface of a melting glacier. As the dozens of studies at interruptions.net attest, we have created a technological miasma that inundates us with an inexhaustible supply of electronic distractions. Rather than providing necessary interruptions to assist us in focusing on the incomplete task at hand, as Zeigarnik proposed, the deluge of multi-channel signals has produced an array of concentration-related problems, including lost productivity, cognitive overload, and a wearying diminishment in our ability to retain the very information we consume with such voraciousness. If we are to establish balance in our relationship with the digital information that envelops us, we must reconsider our understanding of the inner workings of our pre-existing mental machinery and the limits of its capacity to adapt to the electronic environment.
One approach is to recognize the futility of the compulsion to inundate ourselves with information in the hope of meaningfully processing everything that comes over the digital transom.

Hier en préparant mon lunch, je me disais: ça serait cool si une machine comme ça existait.
Aujourd’hui en lisant mes fils RSS, je tombe en plein sur l’appareil en question.
Manque plus qu’un peu de volonté.
(En fait, ce dont je rêvais spécifiquement c’est d’une machine qui arriverait à déterminer automatiquement le type d’aliment posé sur la balance, mais ça, ça n’est pas près d’entrer sur le marché.)
Ça commence enfin à grouiller pas mal du côté de la Web télé québécoise, alors Dominic “fondant au chocolat” Arpin a eu la bonne idée de créer un genre de WebTV Hebdo publié sur son blogue. Belle initiative. Si vous avez des projets vidéo sur le Web, allez lui en faire part pour alimenter le contenu de son guide.
Parlant de “suivre”, si le sujet vous intéresse et que vous êtes sur Facebook, Martin Lessard a créé un groupe de veille sur la web télé: Veille TV2.0. Ça couvre toute la web télé et non pas seulement celle produite au Québec.
Il faudrait vraiment qu’on trouve quelque chose pour remplacer l’expression “web télé” car le modèle télévisuel ne correspond plus à la réalité Web. Le terme évoluera probablement avec le médium.

Après examen des montants dévolus dans le cadre du Fonds canadien de la télévision, dont Radio-Canada n’a eu la confirmation que vendredi dernier, la direction générale de la Télévision française annonce qu’il sera possible de produire une troisième saison de TOUT SUR MOI sans compromettre l’équilibre budgétaire de sa programmation dramatique ou de sa grille horaire 2009-2010.
Si vous n’avez pas encore regardé cette hilarante et attachante série, pourquoi ne pas y jeter un coup d’oeil ce soir, à 21h30? Non seulement ça promet d’être rigolo, mais en plus il y aura des pompiers! Oui oui, des pompiers, et des beaux à part ça! Même le générique a été refait pour l’occasion.
Croyez-le ou non, le printemps s’en vient et ça me fait penser à mon scooter dont je m’ennuie et que je ne retrouverai pas dans quelques semaines parce que je l’ai vendu. :-(
