Sometimes in English, sometimes in French. Often about movies, tv, writing, technology and Montréal. But really - ni vu ni connu - it's always about me.

Thanks, Stony, but I'm surprised to hear that Brendan Kelly might have said something positive about AVMP. I doubt it was him. His review in the Gazette was pretty bad. He was the ONLY reviewer who thought that the two leads didn't have charisma (which is amazing because they are quite charismatic) and he thought the movie wasn't funny at all... I heard entire movie theaters burst out laughing every 2 minutes, to the point where we missed a lot of dialogue, but hey, I'm sure that the ambiance at the press screening was different... ;-)

There was a guy on CBC radio yesterday morning--it *may* have been Brendan Kelly from The Gazette--saying that AVMP was a good example of the Teen romantic comedy genre, in the style of John Hughes. However more tellingly and more interestingly, he remarked on AVMP's commercial success, and said that it was the first ever Quebecois film that had been made for an intended audience of under 35 years. He wondered loudly on the show about all the success of Quebec cinema, and why it had taken someone so long to make a film that unabashedly caters to the 12-21 set. he also mentioned that it was of little import what critics thought, as the kids themselves were so obviously loving it. so congratulations!!! :-)
